Ka Lima’s Walk

Since the Annual Charity Walk is going Virtual this year, Ka Lima O Maui decided to have a short, informal walk around Keopuolani Park as the focal point to raise money for this great event that helps so many non-profits on Maui. We had great participation from all of the ohana, Ka Lima workers did their full shift and then came to walk, some still in their work boots. The Waiver Program participants used the walk as another exercise time and then sat in the shade and picnicked afterward. Other staff made sandwiches, staff crosswalks, and cheered on the great effort made by everyone. The unique t-shirt design was created by Sarah McGowan.

Glove Assist

Ka Lima O Maui has been working with Source America to develop a new tool for persons with the use of only one hand to independently put on a safety glove. He was complimentary of the new tool and discussed the other versions of the tool developed earlier. For people like Andrian the “Glove Assist” is

Every year at our Annual Meeting, we give out awards to our own participants as well as community supporters who have done a terrific job for us in the previous year! Unfortunately, we were not able to have our Annual Meeting this time because of Covid-19. Still, we want to recognize the people and community supporters who have gone beyond just being workers or participants or contacts and have made a major difference for Ka Lima O Maui in the past year. We appreciate all of our partners and participants and thank each and every one of you for all that you do for Ka Lima O Maui.

Making Christmas Special

Every year for the past 16 years, Aaron Placourakis of Tri-Star Restaurants has hosted the clients and workers of Ka Lima O Maui for a great Christmas Luncheon. This year, in spite of Covid-19, he still made Christmas very special for the Ka Lima Ohana. Sadly, Sarento’s on the Beach, which was the venue all of those previous years, is now closed. Still, in spite of these challenges, Aaron kept his commitment alive by having the staff of Manoli’s Pizza Company and Nick’s Fishmarket prepared lunches to go for over 100 Ka Lima O Maui clients and workers. So again this year, for the 17th straight year, all of the Ka Lima guys enjoyed a great Christmas Grab and Go luncheon thanks to Aaron and his great staff. Mahalo to Aaron Placourakis, and the staff of Manoli’s Pizza Company, and Nick’s Fishmarket for this awesome Christmas gift to Ka Lima
