100 Holes of Golf is 45 this year!!!

100 Holes of Golf – one of Maui’s most successful fundraisers & most unknown ultra-distance sporting events on Maui took place at the Wailea Blue Golf course on Saturday, May 28. This was the 45th time it has been played and it has raised over a million dollars for Ka Lima O Maui. On Saturday, 18 determined and generous guys played golf from 5 am to 7 pm to help Ka Lima O Maui, one of Maui’s oldest non-profits. Led by Larry Stubblefield, there is no shortage of heroes in this group who play to help people with disabilities that live and work on Maui. This will be Larry’s 40th year participating in it and the 39th time he has organized it. Not to be overlooked were David Robinson who completed his 30th year of doing 100 Holes and Dale Madden who complete his 20th year of 100 Holes. Dale,

Ka Lima’s Walk

Since the Annual Charity Walk is going Virtual this year, Ka Lima O Maui decided to have a short, informal walk around Keopuolani Park as the focal point to raise money for this great event that helps so many non-profits on Maui. We had great participation from all of the ohana, Ka Lima workers did their full shift and then came to walk, some still in their work boots. The Waiver Program participants used the walk as another exercise time and then sat in the shade and picnicked afterward. Other staff made sandwiches, staff crosswalks, and cheered on the great effort made by everyone. The unique t-shirt design was created by Sarah McGowan.

Glove Assist

Ka Lima O Maui has been working with Source America to develop a new tool for persons with the use of only one hand to independently put on a safety glove. Called “Glove Assist”, the tool allows the person to attached the glove to the “Glove Assist”. Once attached, the person places their hand into the now partially open glove. They then reverse out of the tool with the glove securely and fully on their hand. Andrian, a worker with Ka Lima O Maui Custodian Department, demonstrated and was filmed by Source America using the “Glove Assist”. Special Mahalo also to Dan Honma, Director of Operations, who coordinated Ka Lima’s role in the project. Andrian lost the use of his left hand after a stroke. He was complimentary of the new tool and discussed the other versions of the tool developed earlier. For people like Andrian the “Glove Assist” is
